  • Measure the actual emitter flow using a timer and a container.
  • Calculate the flow rate and compare it to the target rate. Take several trials and record volumes. Repeat measurements to check accuracy.
  • Keep the measurement conditions the same for every trial.
  • After getting a reading, compare it to the emitter’s rated rate. If it is higher or lower, note the difference and plan a fix.
  • An emitter should deliver 2 L/hour. You collect water for 60 seconds and measure 0.04 L. What is the emitter flow in L/hour? How does it compare to the target? Is it high or low?
